Step-by-step method

   Site

   Watermelon loves sandy loam and lots of sun. Mounds 5–6 ft apart with 10 kg manure.

   Soak

   12–24 hours in lukewarm water.

   Sow

   2 seeds per mound, 1 inch deep.

   Vines & straw

   Let vines spread on the ground with straw underneath so fruit doesn't rot.

   Irrigate

   Steady, moderate water after fruit sets. Cut back 10 days before ripening for sweeter fruit.

   Harvest

   Pick when the tendril by the stalk dries, the underside turns yellow and a tap sounds deep and hollow.

🌱 General care: weed around the base once plants grow and water whenever the soil starts to dry.
